Brian

Firstly congratulations on a great site. I was wondering if you have any information with regard to my family. My father was James (Jimmy) Dowling (dob 28/2/16). He was born in Ballymount/Blackrath, Co. Kildare. He was the youngest son of Maurice and Bridget Dowling.

There were possibly 9/10 children - Tess; Maurice; John; Kathleen; Larry; Joe; Patrick (?); William; Patricia and my dad James.

Some of the following information is perhaps sketchy :

My dads father died approx. 1918/19 - he worked on the family farm Bridget sold the farm and moved to Belfast to be with her son John approx. 1928. My dad stayed in Kidare with his Aunt and Uncle (Maggie and John Dwyer).
Tess, Kathleen and Joe stayed and lived in Dublin Maurice went to London
Patricia (Patsy) also moved to Belfast
Patrick (Patsie) moved to London and perhaps emigrated to Canada
Larry died as a child in a fire
My died left school and 15 and moved to Belfast to join his mum, John and Patrica
I believe all my dads brothers and sisters are now dead with the exception of Patricia.

My dad went initially to London in the late 30's but moved back to Belfast were he met my mother Maureen in 1941 and married 1944. They had six children - Breage; Elizabeth; Geraldine; Seamus; Michael and myself - Maurice.

My father died in Jan. 1999.

I am sure you get many vague requests like this but if you could provide any information it would be much appreciated.

Thanks - Maurice.
