Dowling and Anderson will be missed
How fortunate for all residents of the Rose of Sharon to have known two former residents - Reverend Father William P. Dowling, Jr. and Corinne Anderson
Father Dowling's obituary in your paper revealed what a remarkable contribution he gave to mankind, i.e., his church, his country, Marist School, Benedictine, Savannah High, pastor-assistant at Blessed Sacrament Church of Savannah, Holy Family Church in Columbus, Our Lady of Lourdes and much more. Father Dowling's membership included the NAACP, Chatham Crusade for Voters and Georgia Council on Human Relations.
When I joined Troop 15 of the Boy Scouts, Bill Dowling was assistant to Julius Drake, Scout Master, at Sacred Heart Church and at Camp Strachan. He coached me from tenderfoot to 1st class, to star.
Fr. Dowling's laptop computer was open for all to learn. Omitted from your fine article was his membership in Mensa.
Corinne Anderson was the widow of a great artist, the latter being "artist in residence at White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.-The Homestead."
As a resident here at the Rose of Sharon, she was not only a highly intelligent lady, but superior in her many endeavors - graduate of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Phi Beta Kappa, expert at basketball, tennis, equestrian and poetry.
It is incongruous to this writer how much Bill Dowling and Corinne Anderson had in common. Both are a great loss for so many.
