I am looking for the ancestors and descendants of William and Anne Dowling who farmed at Derrykearn near Abbeyleix. William was born about 1840. He had 8 children : Thomas, Martin, Anne, James, Mary, Elizabeth, Fintan, and William Joseph. All are now dead but, except for Anne, all I believe had children. My grandfather was William's son James. I and my sisters are James' only descendants.

Dear Mike,

Thanks for your e-mail. I don't think I can help you. My father, Joseph Dowling, was born in Leeds in 1910, one of 6 children of whom only 5 survived infancy. His father was James Dowling born 1875 near Abbeyleix, Co. Laois and his mother was Margaret McEvoy born 1875 near Portlaois, Co. Laois. Joseph's grandparents were William and Ann Dowling, date of births unknown but thought to be about 1840. And that is all I know, apart from the names of Joseph's and James's siblings. The names Archibald and Michael
do not appear in my family. By the way, I was born in London (Lambeth) in 1950.

Thanks for your e-mail. I don't think I can help you. My father, Joseph Dowling, was born in Leeds in 1910, one of 6 children of whom only 5 survived infancy. His father was James Dowling born 1875 near Abbeyleix, Co. Laois and his mother was Margaret McEvoy born 1875 near Portlaois, Co. Laois. Joseph's grandparents were William and Ann Dowling, date of births unknown but thought to be about 1840. And that is all I know, apart from the names of Joseph's and James's siblings. The names Archibald and Michael
do not appear in my family. By the way, I was born in London (Lambeth) in 1950.

I am looking for the ancestors and descendants of William and Anne Dowling who farmed at Derrykearn near Abbeyleix. William was born about 1840. He had 8 children : Thomas, Martin, Anne, James, Mary, Elizabeth, Fintan, and William Joseph. All are now dead but, except for Anne, all I believe had children. My grandfather was William's son James. I and my sisters are James' only descendants.

I am looking for the ancestors and descendants of William and Anne Dowling who farmed at Derrykearn near Abbeyleix. William was born about 1840. He had 8 children : Thomas, Martin, Anne, James, Mary, Elizabeth, Fintan, and William Joseph. All are now dead but, except for Anne, all I believe had children. My grandfather was William's son James. I and my sisters are James' only descendants.
