Obituary:- Mrs. Mary Hogan, 63, of 2486 Kings Rd. died late yesterday afternoon following a brief illness. Mrs. Hogan was born in Macclenny and came to this city about 30 years ago. She was a life long member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Hogan is survived by three daughters, Mrs. R.W. Cox, Norwood; Mrs. Mattie Harvey, Orange Park, and Mrs. J.A. Peterson, this city, three sons, Harley, John and Enoch Hogan, this city; and three sisters, Mrs. Martha Combs, Glen Saint Mary, Mrs. Lathana Harvey, Sanderson, and Mrs. C.O. O'Steen, Macclenny. Funeral services will be held at the Zion's Rest Primitive Baptist Church, Roselle Street and Willowbranch Avenue at 3 P.M. today, the pastor, Elder W.R. Rhoden officiating. The pallbearers are to be J.J. Rice, T.C. Rice, C.L. Rice, N.J. Smith, J.N. Patrick, G. Dukes, who are requested to meet at the residence at 2 P.M. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will rest as the residence until time for services. Arrangements are in charge of Seashole Funeral Parlors.

Mrs. Emmie Dowling, 88, passed away early yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Taylor, 2815 Hubbard St. A native of Brantley County, Georgia, Mrs. Dowling had been a resident of Jacksonville for 3 years. She was married in 1885 to the late John R. Dowling and spent her married life in Baker County, Florida. After the death of her husband, she made her home in Moniac, Georgia before coming to Jacksonville. Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Ella Mulkey and Mrs. Hattie Taylor, this city, 2 sons, J.L. Dowling, Raiford, Florida and W.E. Dowling, this city, 22 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. today at the Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church, of which she was a member, Burial will be in North Prong Cemetery under the direction of Hardage & Sons.

Wanelle S. Dowling passed away peacefully at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida on the afternoon of July 28, 2016 surrounded by her family.

Wanelle S. Dowling was born on February 21, 1936 in Fairbanks, Florida to N.D. Stringer, Sr. and Bessie Lee Dowling. As the third daughter, she was helpful in raising her 10 siblings. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. She married Tom Dowling. They had two sons, Tommy and Pat. The family moved from Jacksonville to Orlando, FL in 1969 to enroll Pat into a special school. Wanelle, Tom and Pat moved from Orlando to Tallahassee Florida in 1984.
Wanelle loved anything outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and just being in “the woods”.
She retired in 2001 from the printing industry.
Wanelle is survived by her two sons Thomas Dowling (Tommy) and wife Carol and James Patrick (Pat), grandson Chad and wife Hollie, and great grandson Hunter. She had 8 sisters and 3 brothers: Winifred Peters, Quinelle Terranova (Deceased), Willie Mae Waddell (Deceased), Douglas Stringer (Deceased), Jackie Pellum, Sandra Rogers (Deceased), James Stringer, Frank Stringer, Charlotte Armstrong, and Lee Stringer (Deceased)

Aunt Wannie, is remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and great grandmother, and aunt.
