Our DNA match that I also share with your brother and sister still confounds me but looking at the matches on MyHeritage /FTDNA I think the relationship is via my birth mother who was a Fearon from Rostrevor, County Down. Family names possibly associated would be Sloane , Rourke, Cunningham, Rogers,,Morgan, Dunn Colgan. 2. My haplogroup number has changed twice since you've logged it . Initially I-FT248495, now I-FTF83886. 3 In previous emails I mentioned that most of my Y matches have been associated with the name Grace. Last year we had the first Dowling match who traces his family back to Knocknew, Ballyfoyle which is only a couple of miles from Dunmore where my GGG father hails from(or possibly Cloghpook) . This was very exciting but unfortunately they have only taken a Y-111 test so MRCA may not be too accurate but indicates about 1600 AD . From my eleven "Y" Grace matches two are at Y-700 and our MRCA is 1650AD. Between 1650 and 1700 was very eventful for the Grace family in Kilkenny with the temporary loss of their castle at Courtstown by Cromwell and then backing the wrong side against William of Orange at the Battle of the Boyne. (Grace's Card ) Hopefully with further tests we can see who came first the Dowling's or the Grace's but I wouldn't be surprised if many of the Dowling's around Ballyfoyle/ Johnswell/Cloghpook are from this HG. Maybe a Grace changed their name - who knows 4 On your website DNA section I am shown as an Australia match but I am from the UK. Incidentally you aren't by any remote chance related to a Michael Dowling from the Radlett area who sadly passed away last year aged 57 ? . He was a classmate of my mine at Watford Grammar School.
