Victory for R.N. Division. Awarded M.C. (Military Cross) for conspicuous gallantry & devotion, when, during an intense barrage, three of his guns & crewshad been buried, he at once, provided under a heavy fire, to effect a rescue & succeeded in recovering one gun & a few men. He remained at his post until in the last stage of exhaustion.
